Hello, my fellow fragrant friend! This week’s newsletter is a tough one to write as we are all mourning the loss of my dear friend, Carlos J Powell.
On February 7th, 2021, we lost an important member of the Fragrance community, Carlos J Powell, also known as Brooklyn Fragrance Lover. He was 56 years young.
On behalf of The Fragrance Society, let me pass our deepest condolences on his recent and unexpected passing. To say Carlos was a larger-than-life character would be an understatement. He will always be remembered for his enthusiasm and passion he brought to everything he did.
He leaves behind a huge body of work on his YouTube channel— with his videos collectively reaching over 14 million views.
On a personal note, I know he worked tirelessly on his channel and still managed to find the time to be a good friend to all— especially me. I’m blessed to have known him, and I will always remember our happy times we spent together.
We were very close. We’ve laughed together, cried together, talked about fragrance for hours with each other. We had a similar taste in perfume, and he shared so many gems with me. I learned so much from him.
I will miss him forever— a pillar, an icon, my work husband, my boo, and my friend.
There are many in this community who will deeply mourn his passing as his was a life of service, love, compassion, and excellence.
May he rest in peace.
